Committee Honors African American Korean War Veterans during Black History Month

The Department of Defense 60th Anniversary of the Korean War Commemoration Committee (KW60) will participate in the Black History Month program presented by the 24th Infantry Regiment chapter in Willingboro, NJ.  Each year this chapter holds a Black History program that is extended to the community as an educational forum.  The Committee will honor African American Korean War Veterans by distributing Certificates of Appreciation signed by the Secretary of Defense, Leon E. Panetta, during the event.

The Department of Defense 60th Anniversary of the Korean War Commemoration Committee (KW60) participated in the Black History Month program presented by the 24th Infantry Regiment chapter in Willingboro, NJ.  Each year this chapter holds a Black History program that is extended to the community as an educational forum.  The Committee honored 35 African American Korean War Veterans by distributing Certificates of Appreciation signed by the Secretary of Defense, Leon E. Panetta.  The Korean War Veterans also received Certificates of Appreciation from the New Jersey State Legislature as well as personalized proclamations.  In addition, KW60's Executive Director, Colonel David J. Clark, provided remarks and excerpts from the films "The Last of the Buffalo Soldiers" and "For Love of Liberty" were shown to the audience.  Approximately, 200 were in attendance, to include Korean War Veterans, family, friends and community members.
