Korean War Committee Participates in Salutes to Veterans in Colorado

The Department of Defense 60th Anniversary of the Korean War Committee will be honoring Veterans in Colorado in April. The KW60 Committee will participate in Denver Nuggets' Hoops for Troops event and address cadets at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

The Department of Defense 60th Anniversary of the Korean War (KW60) Committee participated in the Denver Nuggets' Hoops for Troops event and halftime show on April 14, 2013 by honoring Korean War Veterans. COL David Clark, Executive Director of the KW60 Committee, presented certificates of appreciation signed by the Secretary of Defense to Korean War Veterans. Also, the Denver Nuggets presented a NBA basketball signed by the Nuggets players to Korean War Veteran, Lt Gen Charles Cleveland (USAF, Ret). The event was attended by approximately 5000 people, including Korean War Veterans and their families.

In addition to the Hoops for Troops event, the KW60 Committee visited the Air Force Academy to host a history educational event featuring Air Force pilot, Lt Gen Cleveland. While at the Academy, the KW60 Committee met with the cadets in the Staff Tower, visited the History Department and met with the Dean of Faculty and the Superintendent of USAF Academy.

Certificates signed by the Secretary of Defense were also distributed to the Korean War Veterans residing in the 5 VA State Homes in Colorado.
