Repatriation of MOH Recipient LTC Faith

Wednesday, April 17, 2013 - 12:45

On Wednesday, April 17 the Department of Defense 60th Anniversary of the Commemoration Committee attended the burial of Lt. Col. Don Carlos Faith, United States Army.

The 32-year-old Army officer from Washington, Ind., who was mortally wounded while leading the breakout attempt on Dec. 1, 1950, later was awarded the Medal of Honor for the heroic but largely futile effort to save his men. On Wednesday, April 17, he was buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery in a ceremony to be attended by some of his former men and by his daughter, who was just 4 when he died.  Prior to the burial a ceremony took place at the Main Post Chapel at Ft. Myer.

Although he did not survive, he was remembered as “a soldier’s soldier.”
